HTW Berlin has almost 14,000 students and represents challenging studies, qualified graduates and practical research. The signature of Berlin’s largest university of applied sciences is the diversity of more than 70 courses in the fields of technology, computer science, economics, law, culture and design. In this way, it makes scientifically founded contributions to technical, economic and social development. HTW Berlin’s competencies are particularly pronounced in the areas of “tomorrow’s industry”, “digitization” and “creative industries”.
Research and technology transfer are embedded as key tasks in the mission statement of HTW Berlin. The university promotes individual and team-oriented
research activities with an ambitious research strategy, investment in infrastructure and specific incentives. Researchers are bringing together
their ideas, expertise and contacts in more than 150 thematically wide-ranging third-party-funded projects every year, which often are carried out in cooperation with business partners.
The profile is characterized by five major future topics. Individual researchers, small project groups and multidisciplinary research teams dedicate themselves to these topics with a wide variety of approaches. Some conduct research on how to improve healthcare, others investigate the optimal use of renewable energies and improved energy efficiency, future of industry and working environment, the potential uses of digital media in cultural and creative industries or cultural world heritage. The professional diversity offers unique opportunities for combining research competencies. In nine interdisciplinary research clusters, researchers work together across disciplines on a joint research agenda.
EU-Strategie-FH
With discursively developed strategic concepts, HTW Berlin will improve the quality of applications in Horizon 2020. Visibility in the European research area will be increased by systematically connecting with European partners.
