Studying in Green Surroundings
Founded in 1991, the University has long gained a reputation for its well-rounded academic education programme and motivated student body. Interested students can choose from around 50 study programmes taught at three departments in Magdeburg and two departments in Stendal. Around 130 professors guarantee a very good staff-to-student contact ratio, with approximately 4,200 students in Magdeburg and 2,100 in Stendal. Since the winter semester 2005/06, the University has exclusively offered Bachelor and Master study programmes.
Application-oriented and interdisciplinary
Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences is a recognised partner for companies and institutions in business and society, both regionally and beyond. The objective is to build long-term, resilient partnerships and to develop joint research projects, in order to make a sustainable difference to the success of companies and institutions and to drive development, particularly within the region. More than 200 researchers in various academic disciplines are available for this work along with ultra-modern equipment and extremely well educated, dedicated students and graduates. The university‘s research activities cover a broad spectrum, encompassing research and development projects in the fields of engineering, economics, health, communications and the social sciences. By concentrating specific skills in competence centres and industrial laboratories we are able to take a holistic, interdisciplinary approach to research themes. This also enables the results of academic and scientific research to be transferred to innovative processes, products and services with real-world relevance.

The partners aim is a permanent continuation of the strategic transfer structures beyond the funding and specialize in the subject areas "Sustainability & Resource Efficiency", "Digitization" and "Demographic consequences".
Read moreAs an active partner to business, Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences helps to ensure a culture of innovation and a skilled workforce in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt. One area of focus is on the transfer of knowledge, technology and qualifed people between the university and companies, associations and institutions. The university‘s Technology and Knowledge Transfer Centre acts as the interface, where contact with experts within the departments is brokered. It also provides support for research programmes. The university is part of the Competence Network for Applied and Transfer-Oriented Research (KAT), a joint initiative between the universities of Saxony-Anhalt. The university‘s annual research day and participation in research fairs throughout Germany demonstrate the skill of the researchers and the quality of their results. It is particularly important to the university to foster the development of young academic staff and to retain students in the region at companies and institutions based here. The Career Centre provides support to students and graduates as they make the transition into their working lives and helpsto arrange work placements and final dissertation projects. An annual recruitment fair brings together companies and students at an early stage.
